Apologies for the late reply, I get side tracked, I did not know I had to set the valve to on in order to refill coolant, I drained the coolant and refilled this time with your steps and currently it seems to be riding as it was before, thank you

There’s a ton of posts on here about overheating, I know about the manual fan switch however I feel as though my issue is different. My bike would run perfect no overheating never touching the red, the fan would kick on once the needle hit the little dot on the temp gauge, everything seemed good...

Oh yea, those are also easy thought, behind the left fake air intake cover, two screws and they can come out of their slide

I recommend to remove carbs, it’s super easy like 8 clamps holding the boots and then the fuel line and makes it a world easier

I’ve had that coolant leak before. You need a gasket and an O ring shown in the diagrams, the way to get it off is to remove the hoses and the two bolts holding the assembly on then just knocking the elbow loose from the assembly and it’ll pop off, make sure to change the o ring on the hose...

Hopefully... got another vmax im eyeing and really need to sell this one before I can go get it.

1989 vmax in good mechanical condition. I purchased this bike early season, did a ton of work on it and then decided I wanted a newer vmax due being able to ride it more rather than wait for small parts, the paint is faded and the engine needs a repaint. Has forward controls -bled and flushed...

Hi, Yes 2nd gear is perfect and has no issues, no crash damage, it truly doesnt have any big issues, just a bunch of smaller ones that ive mostly fixed, the bike runs and i still daily it, I just want something cleaner/newer that I can more consistently ride rather than wait for a 20$ part...

yup i have JIS bits, learned my lesson after striping every head on my yamaha virago, Thanks for the help going to dive into it if i dont end up selling it for a newer vmax lol.

Thank you, if I do need to split open the carb is this a difficult task? I’ve always done all the work on my vmax and have plenty of tools, I’d plan on buying a rebuild kit if I have to go down that route anyways
