    Denver area VMax mechanic?

The one under the stator cover? If it's bad or going out when warm, wouldn't it mean there would be no spark? Also should mention I have COPS and Ignitech

    Denver area VMax mechanic?

heh, ya. stator seems to test fine. I replaced the R/R since my charge was low, and now I'm right where I need to be. I also have the new R/R wired directly to the batter to remove the crimp situation, etc. It has spark up until the moment it dies on me. I was thinking of possibly being the...

    Denver area VMax mechanic?

slightly adjusted float levels last night (but they were pretty much dead on already). Checked spark on all cylinders. Fuel pump seems to be working (gonna do some more testing tonight; However, my problems initially would run sometimes for quite a while before cutting out. now it's not even...

    Denver area VMax mechanic?

Done it 3 times now just for current issues (well, first two times just did a cleaning with them together, but latest time I completely took them all apart, etc)! This weekend was kind of my last ditch effort. Completely redid carbs and got new rubber thingies for both the vboost and carbs (my...

    Denver area VMax mechanic?

So, I'm at my wits end and am actually contemplating taking my bike in to get fixed (or at least troubleshooted). I've never used a mechanic to service either of my bikes before, so don't know anyone. Does anyone have a recommendation for a mechanic who is knowledgeable on 1st gen vmax? I'm...

    Randomly dying at operating temp

So, after spending a few weeks trying to get this fixed, I'm still struggling to get this thing to run right. I wired up a cheap volt meter to the battery so I could watch voltage as I was riding around. I wired the R/R directly to the batter with its own fuse, and started riding around. At...

    Randomly dying at operating temp

So voltages were definitely lower in comparison to what i'm reading in the electrical forum. I should have written it down, but without running or key, I was at 12.8v (good so far), but on idling at 1k, it was around the same, and then at 2.5k it was only at 13.1v. I ended up wiring the R/R...

    Randomly dying at operating temp

Thanks guys. I left it at my parents last weekend, but this weekend when I get it back home I'll run through some electrical stuff. Kept focusing on fuel-related stuff since thats how it felt.

    Randomly dying at operating temp

I know this same type of post has shown up a thousand times, but I've been reading through many of them, and don't seem to fit my same circumstances. Been having nothing but issues on my bike these last few months. The problem is intermittent enough that I think I got it fixed, only to come...

Thanks everyone for your input. I really appreciate it!

    Rear Tire Spacer Problem

Thought I would post a link to a couple pics for reference. One shows what I have on the tire itself, and the other shows inside the drive shaft. https://www.dropbox.com/sc/j68xg38p4im8m31/AAADqWVLku0AIqcqOSB-ilDwa

Thanks, but I was looking at that already, and since it's an exploded diagram, I got even more confused :)

    Rear Tire Spacer Problem

So, got the rear tire swapped out (rode over a nail!!!), but I pulled it myself to save a few bucks. Have done it once or twice before. When I was putting things back, I think I lost a spacer. I've looked all over my garage though, and cannot find anything. This is what I have. From the...

Starting issue after putting on its side

I was kinda blown away, but that was it. Got the new gasket on, and it started right up with no issues! YAY! Thanks all for your help.

Starting issue after putting on its side

The 1 click was happening even when I was running the fuel to a jar (no pressure). I took of the plastic cap that protected the electronics and it started working again. I think I didn't have it positioned correctly and it was causing it to hang up. Getting the gasket and will see what happens

Starting issue after putting on its side

oh my... so, got the new fuel pump. it seems to be working correctly. but now when i try to start it, it keeps blowing the ignition fuse. I was doing some reading on how to test the stator, charge, etc, and happened to see it mentioned that you had to use an actual gasket on the stator...

Starting issue after putting on its side

Glad to know someone else was successful with one of these. I actually ordered that exact one last night, while crossing my fingers it would work! They had a very high rating, so figured it was worth 40 bux on a "hopefully" vs around 200 for the OEM. Not 100% sure it will solve my...

Starting issue after putting on its side

it pumps fuel if i keep putting voltage alternating onto the fuel pump. (meaning putting a lead on/off onto the pump. it's sounding like it should just keep running with direct current until too much pressure (i disconnected the output and ran that to a jar, so should never have too much...

Starting issue after putting on its side

When you run 12v directly to the fuel pump, should it keep clicking, or just click once (then remove/add power again causing it to click again)? If once per power connection, then its working. I can get fuel to pump through it just fine by continually applying power. I checked voltage at the...

Starting issue after putting on its side

I'm sorry for all the misinformation i seem to be providing. But I just re-checked power at the fuel pump, and it does seem to be working (i don't think i was holding the start button long enough. it seems to need a second or so before full voltage arrives at the fuel pump. it's still not...
