My good for nuthin 2 cents is: this happens to my ‘18 gen2 as well. The fix is, taking it to the yammie dealer and having the motor synced. I’m guessing it’s the equivalent of having the carbs synced on a gen 1? I don’t know.

Had the same exact problem with mine off the showroom floor. They couldn’t figure it out until I looked thru this forum and found that same helpful info... have them sync the throttle bodies and you should be golden. Fixed all my issues and made the throttle/shifting way smoother. And it was free.

Riding on the highway at the same speed for an hour- light comes on at 87. Riding thru hills and twisties with a lot of 3/4 throttle and speeds over 110- light comes on at 83. Bottom line, didn’t buy it for fuel mileage and my different riding styles make almost no difference in the mpg so... go...
