What was your first (street) bike???

To get away from the James Dean look I have attached a pic of my 1968 Triumph that I chopped in 1971. The hair is longer and this bike went very well.

What was your first (street) bike???

My first bike was this 1958 Triumph Thunderbird that I bought in 1966 when I was 16 years old. It was a slug.

    Improving Your Riding Skills

Shawn, you are countersteering without realizing it. It is almost impossible to turn a bike that is moving at speed other than the initial slow speed takeoff without countersteering. When riding, exert a little pressure (push) your right palm against the handlebar and your bike will turn to...

    ebay question

Maximum, I have a friend wanting to buy a newer style Corbin if it has the pull out plug for the gas fill. If interested in a straight sale send me an email at: mblamb@sasktel dot net Please note there are no spaces in the email as I did it that way to avoid harvesting.

Scoops?? I didn't see any scoops. Must be trick photography.

    forward controls....

I have owned bikes with forward controls (WideGlide and Softail Custom) and ridden numberous others. I have never found one that was comfortable to ride at high speeds due to the turbulence created when your feet are out front catching the wind. The wind sweeps up your shins and hit you smack in...

    vmax backrest wanted

I purchased a backrest and luggage rack from Exactrep as I think the Yamaha luggage rack looks ridiculous hanging about 8" above the rear fender. Exactrep had it to my door in four day. Excellent service...

    Accessory Frt Turn Signals

GMan, I know exactly where you are coming from about mounting them on the upper triple clamp. If I decide to mount them on the fork tubes I will have to make up a bracket being no one makes any for the 43mm forks. Kuryakyn makes nice mounts but will not make them for the Vmax. I guess they...

    Accessory Frt Turn Signals

Thanks for the info everyone. I plan on keeping the stock rears because their mounts are excellent for strapping my luggage pack onto. From what I gather, with the stock rears I can go either bulb or LED up front without requiring a different relay.

Favorite car chase movie or bike movie?

Thanks for setting me straight. Yes, it was Duel. Now I can go and see if it is available as its been years since I saw it. On another note, does anyone remember the name of the movie with an older flattracker (Frank) who comes back to the sport to win a race on his XR750? I'd like to rent...

    electric vests

I hope you had a Merry Christmas as well. I live 65 miles east of Saskatoon. If your vest doesn't come with a switch all you have to do is wire one in. They are available at most hardware stores. A switch really is handy as it lets you turn it off and on to control your warmth.

    electric vests

I've been using the electric vest for years and would not go on a trip in the spring or fall without one. I've found that if you can keep your back warm the rest of you stays warm. They are especially good when riding on a cold rainy day for any length of time. They are very easy to hook up...

    Accessory Frt Turn Signals

I have to change my front signal lites due to the style of windshield I have. If I buy the smaller units listed on ebay will I have to put on a load equalizer even though the rear signals are OEM? If so, what specs does the equalizer require. Thanks for the help.

    First vmax crash

Outlaws Justice, I agree with all you have said. Been riding and racing motorcylces for 42 years including a stint of teaching safety courses. People do not "lay motorcycles down". They lose control and then go down. Inexperieced riders tend to put a death grip on the bars with the brakes...

    A little help, please?

I also bought mine on Ebay and encountered the same problem. Left side lined up perfect while the right was out a hair. Drilled it out to fit the bolt. If you are ever at a rally that Corbin has a display at he will have one of his tech's fix it up. I have talked to John a few times and find...

    Helmet Discussion

Clintard, when getting a new helmet it should feel tight with your cheeks feeling compressed. As well, the helmet should not rock forward or laterally. After a few outings the interior will compress slightly and feel really good. It's hard to tell yourself that it will be good when your...

    Helmet Discussion

This past June, I was involved in a three bike pile up while riding my flattracker on the Sturgis, SD Shorttrack. I was wearing a brand new (first time) KBC full face and landed head first then slid up the track. The helmet split on the right side and the interior forehead foam collapsed from...
