what temperature is that thermostat and where did you buy it?

i just noticed that my bike has a radiator fan! i've never had a bike with a radiator before.... make sure that your fan is operating properly. there's got to be a temp switch that turns it on and off. also, flush your radiator , clean the outside and replace your thermostat, if possible...

sure, but Yamaha had this problem for a long long time and for some reason refused to fix it. i just ordered a new starter clutch for $30.00. i'll make sure that those bolts don't back out if i have to use JB Weld.

if the bike sat for that long, there would be NO gas in the carbs. it would have evaporated long ago. also, if the gas "wasn't that bad" then it definitely didn't sit for four years. did you change the plugs?

i found a complete starter clutch for $30.60 shipped so i bought that. i'm going to consider using JB Weld when i put those bolts back in. clearly peening them isn't enough to keep them from backing out. but i learned something .
