    Gen 1 Sumitomo calipers

Fair play they look great! Alas, shipping costs to the UK and being clobbered with customs fees would make it a very expensive venture. 🤔

    Gen 1 Sumitomo calipers

Yes the brakes are absolutely shite. I feel I’m too far down the road now though as I’ve bought all new pistons, seals, pads, braided lines, spent ages stripping paint and respraying!!!! I really wish I’d gone down the blue dot 🔵 route now right from the get-go. 🤔 You live and learn I guess...

    Gen 1 Sumitomo calipers

Yes I understand I need adapter brackets for the blue dots. 👍👍👌

    Gen 1 Sumitomo calipers

Thanks for this info. I don’t want to buy more kits just to get the O ring as I have already paid out on new pistons and seals…….also I’m in the UK so shipping and customs fees would break the bank. I’m thinking I might go for the Yamaha blue spot calipers and shit-can these ones.

    Gen 1 Sumitomo calipers

Yes I agree. They shouldn’t flex at all.

    Gen 1 Sumitomo calipers

A thicker O rings might cure the leak but to my mind there should be no flexing at all 🤔

    Gen 1 Sumitomo calipers

It’s happening on both sides. Both calipers have new O rings, although they are not OEM as that little O ring between the two halves is not listed on the Yamaha fiche.

    Gen 1 Sumitomo calipers

Hi all, I have a ‘92 Gen 1 with standard brake setup. My brakes have always been crap with the lever coming pretty much all the way up to the bar. I have just overhauled my master cylinders and calipers, all new pistons and seals, also fitted braided lines………you guessed it, they are still...

    Carb synch

Yes I have the restrictors installed in the CarbTune hoses, all the adjusters are free and turn easily too.

    Carb synch

Yes I was thinking of maybe getting the analog gauge type. I thought the CarbTune was a decent set though 🤔

    Carb synch

Yep Yep…. Done all that…… but every carb I adjust alters the settings of the ones I’ve just set previously. I can’t set any one carb and have it stay constant. Even the value of #2 is varying and that’s supposedly the set point.

    Carb synch

Yep …… been following that procedure, but as soon as I jump on #3 it totally screws up #1 & #2 🤷‍♂️
  13. N

    Carb synch

Yes i’ve been on it for some time….. it’s a fairly warm day here in UK today so the bike is getting hot. The missus is bitching about the noise too so i’ve had to call it for today. 😟

    Carb synch

Hi all, Having an absolute mare trying to synch carbs. No 2 pot is non-adjustable right? So I try to synch 1,3 & 4 to 2. First I synch 1 & 2, but when I then try to synch 3 & 4 it screws up 1 & 2 and they all go out of synch. Surely only one column at a time should be moving. 🤷‍♂️. I’m using...

    Carbs and exhaust popping

I’ve spent literally hours and hours and hours…….not to mention £££££££’s trying to remedy this issue - bike coughing and farting and running 💩💩. Someone mentioned about the mixture screws so I bought 4 kits from Fowlers and it now runs like a clock. 👍👌

    Throttle cables

Good morning all... Has anybody discovered a work-around / mod to eliminate the plastic slider box where the throttle cables join up? This part is no longer available in United Kingdom. cheers guys. Nibsy

    Electronic Ignition

Ahh right ok. Well it was silver when I bought it, although the log book said it was black. I have recently had it sprayed in Caesium blue which is a Jaguar Land Rover colour.

    Electronic Ignition

It’s showing as a 3LR5 France ’92 model, colour code RES,…whatever that means. I know for sure that it’s not the original motor. Also, It appears to be a later model bike but with the earlier model ignition system.

    Electronic Ignition

Yes it’s definitely a ‘Frankenstein’s monster’ all right. Is the DYNA 3000 system compatible with my set-up? and does it take over the role of the Vboost control?

    Electronic Ignition

Thanks for the above info. I think I must have an early ignition system. I have the harness connector socket with the colours;- white/green grey orange white/red black however, the plug that is connected to this socket has 5 cores, all of which are white. I’m guessing this is a two pick-up...
