    Raised countersunk M5 worked just fine indeed. The steering lock engages right at the right rest, no need to fiddle with the handlebars to find the locking position. Thanks Miles.

    Just to eliminate another potential reason. Have you checked the vacuum line that connects the second cylinder (front left) body to ignition unit? It has a one-direction flow restrictor on it that should point up as I remember.
