Excellent point on periodically starting the bike.............I always allow it to run for 10-15 minutes but have never thought about condensation forming internally.

According to my wiring diagram the rear lights are not used as running lights like the front..............therefore the rear lights are used for signaling only

The wire is deformed beyond it's yield point for the wire and once it has been moved beyond the yield point the wire will not return to it's original shape which is this case is a straight piece of wire. It does have to be over bent in order to get the ends of the wire to match the original...

My cooling manifold where the drain valve is located is leaking a small amount at the Drain Valve and also leaking a little where the manifold goes into the block................I assume the block fit up is with a o-ring and can be replaced but not sure about the Drain Valve...

What year is your bike.................I have a 85 and a 93 and neither one has guage lights in "P"
