    Another 'Clutch Not Disengaging' Thread

I have yet to change the oil, so I can't report on that yet (I'll do that soon). Trying 15w40 over the 20w50 valvoline wetclutch stuff sounds interesting. I know it has more ZDDP than the motorcycle oil. We'll give it a shot. But I did try the reverse bleeding. I went to the Walmart and picked...

    Another 'Clutch Not Disengaging' Thread

Hate to beat a specific topic like a coked up monkey on a snare drum... and I've searched the forum and found lots of great advice and tried some things and I'm right back to square one. Obviously.. the clutch doesn't seem to be disengaging all the way (Or at least as much as I seem to think it...

    Think my fuelpump is cooked...

Much obliged. New one is $250+ tax, found one at OZ Motorsports Salvage in Ottawa $120, 30 day warranty that I'll go and pick up tomorrow. Hopefully that'll cure what ails it. Hopefully i can hit you up should it not actually fix my issue?

    Think my fuelpump is cooked...

An annoying story, after spending $200 buying a battery and 4 hours renewing the registration, I can't ride. last week the bike ran great, save for the fact the battery didn't hold a charge and the bike needed to be bump/jump started. so it sat for a week, bought a new battery, installed it...

    The orange O-ring ?

My understanding is the pipe itself was redesigned for 1999 and up, the Oring is bigger. I'm not finding any proof that this was an improvement and starting to suspect my own.

    Basket finger and groove Divots.

This is sounding more and more like my problem with my max. I've been eyeballing the orient express billet basket, but it seems to be a no-name or in shop deal with them. Anyone have any experience with their baskets? are they any good? or is OE better? And can you just buy the basket? Or do you...

    stock exhaust vs.

I found an interesting exhaust set up on ebay by a company called Delkevic. I found delkevic's website, they're based out of the UK. interestingly theres no reference to vmax exhaust on their website.. but theres a company selling a set for the max on the ebay. I contacted delkevic to see if...

    Dyna Ignition

Is level 4 good for a stock max? I was looking at a stage 1 jet kit and some 8MM wires for mine to wake it up some. I dyno'd it when it was new, and with one carb out of sync it threw down 115 to the rear. (I was at Laconia. It was funny because the Dyno guy had been doing harley's all day...

    SuperTrapps question

Not to jack the thread here but general supertrapp question... supertrapp says you add disks to make more top end/horsepower and remove them to get more low end torque... mufflers come with 16 (8 per side) disks.... so... how many are roughly the equal to stock exhaust? are there enough in the...

    Leaking Gas Bigtime! Help!

:th_image003: Alrighty... disaster averted. I cleaned the cylinder out some more cranked it for a bit, started it up.. sounds just fine.. In case anyone is interested, I took the air box off the carb, took the top/lid/spring/needle assembly off the carb, shot some carb cleaner down the needle...

    Leaking Gas Bigtime! Help!

Well that ended potentially horribly... managed to get the carb unstuck, drained some gas from the cylinder, blew it out with air, waited a few, went to crank it to see if it would geyser gas again... CrankCLANG

    Chains in the carbs????

I love mechanical urban legends.. I was once told that if you take apart a 426 hemi and rotate the pistons (Camside facing outwards) it will give you another 100 horses. Also that all a ford 289 needs to run is a 4 barrel and a 'short stroke waterpump'... :rofl_200: As for carb chains...... got...

    Leaking Gas Bigtime! Help!

I took the airbox off and sprayed some carb cleaner down it's gullet. I now know which carb is being full of fail (left side rear). I sprayed it with some gum out, let it sit, gave it some more taps and found not only is it spraying fuel out of the hose. it comes out of this jet here...

    Leaking Gas Bigtime! Help!

The bike has no rust issues, the inside of the tank looks new (7K miles, never really been stored outside). I dug out my soft faced mallet (Harbor Freight special, plasticoated wood) and set to tapping the crap out of both left side carbs (I'm assuming the left carbs vent on the left side). That...

    Leaking Gas Bigtime! Help!

It does seem to drain back because usually after you turn the key the pump primes. But now if you let it sit for a minute it primes again
