Naughty G...So did you find the problem w/my old bike? Oh never mind that question, I looked at some of your posts and see it's still driving you nuts. Surprises me to hear that the ground cable was bad. The prior owner had installed those huge cables that looked like they would last forever...

put on new wires and plugs. the bike idles fine now. i did all the electronic upgrades that were mentioned and checked the battery under load and charging system when the bike started idling crappy and wanting to die. everything checked fine at the time. appreciate the input. :clapping:

interesting stuff, Miles! i can plug my voltmeter into my float charge connection easily, w/the seat still on. i will do that test and the battery load test as well. may be a few days, but i'll get back to you guys. really appreciate all the help!!

i will give these suggestions a shot if the plug wires don't fix the problem, but remember this problem only arises after the bike is good and hot. it idles perfectly until then. thanks for the responses.

13.4 at idle 14.4 when revved. no problems here.

my vmax runs great and idles perfectly for the first 30 minutes or so. then it will die while sitting at a light after it has heated up real good. taking off is somewhat choppy, but it runs great at partial and wot. i'm replacing the plug wires when they come in. don't think it is fuel-related...

ngk is what i am thinking of buying.

gonna get a new set of plug wires. see them for around $36 on ebay. any thoughts on where else or what brand? :ummm:

yeah, i did that and not only is it too loud for my tastes, but it was cutting out a bit at around 8k, like it needed more gas because of the free flow. rather just restrict it a bit and keep the cops away for now. :biglaugh:

i have tried all kind of different disc mods and was wondering if anyone has tried a drilled end cap w/packing and no discs. this would shoot the exhaust straight out instead of diverting it to the sides. i want packing, because i am not into a real loud bike. anyone done something similar?

ok, i got my system on and have tried it w/8 discs and w/no baffling at all. the latter bangs a bit at 8 grand, but pulls good up to that, so before i mess w/the carb, what is the best number of discs for power on a dead stock setup, that you guys have found?

going to change out my exhaust from stock to supertrapp. the guy i got the supertrapp from just gave me the mufflers and the front header pipes, will my stock back headers slide in and fit correctly? will i have to remove my centerstand to take off my stock system?

sucks, i been there. look at controller box first, mine was the servo motor.

taking the speedometer off and putting about 8 drops of light oil down the cable hole and leaving it upside down like that overnight fixed the problem. no more noise.

my speedometer is making a terrible racket. it isn't the cable or the drive, it is the speedometer itself. any advice from someone that has been inside one of these things?
