I am actively in search of my 2nd gen. vmax. One thing that I hadn't considered is how the bike is rated for insurance purposes. I have owned a zx14, which was definately considered a super sportbike, and had crazy insurance. I have a M109R, which isn't too bad, and I also have a zzr1200...

Just found this site that has the Metzeler rear tires that have H, V, and W ratings. ME880 170/80/15 for $139.00 new. Hope this helps...

The manual states to use V rated tires on this bike. I don't plan on riding at sustained speeds of 130+, but I am curious about your opinions as to whether or not an H rated tire will hold up... I would think tire ratings would be conservative, but what do you guys think?

The guy I bought my vmax from said he just put new tires on it, it had 6500 miles on it. Anyway, he said the tires are "H" rated instead of "V" rated. I think "H" rated tires are rated for 130mph and "V" rated are rated for 150 mph. My bike wobbles at 125mph but I don't think its the tires??? I...
