tar

Hi guys. Just wonder if someone can tell me what the black tar crystals are in the intake manifold. Is this cause for concern? All four intake ports were like this. Some worse than others. I had to remove the carbs to clean them and notice this after removing them.

After work today i was washing my Max to see what was on the pipes wasnt dirt but tar . On my ride to Taupo i encountered about 100 roadworks . I also remember smelling tar burning and was just thinking it was the right muffler as it had gone into the road and was bogged up with tar etc months...

I pulled into a parking lot that had fresh tar and stone chips put down. ARRGH! Ya think they'd put up a sign or something. Anyways, now I have specs of tar hidden all over the place. My cleaning arsenal is not up to task. My best results thus far have been with WD40. Anyone have...
