Okay having issues with my 89max. I had an issue a few weeks ago while riding. I stopped at a light after doing 150 miles got 3 blocks away from home when bike just died on me. Checked main fuse and it was burnt out. I replaced it with the spare fuse, as soon as I put it in the bike it blew...

Thanks will check that tomorrow. You have any answers to why gears are hard to shift after bike sits for a day or so. Like I said after bike is running for awhile they seem just fine...Strange!!

Well it wasn't the gas or fuel filter causing me issues. Decided to pull air box and buddy checked each slide above the carb. Well turned out 1 of the 4 was not working right after opening cover And cheching diaphragm slide noticed the slide it self was cracked. Not sure how that's possible but...

This is the first year I have ever used stable in tank. So hoping it's not a gummed up carb. Sounds like a lot of work and money to have them cleaned. But going to try getting rid of gas and new filter first. Thanks everyone for the help here will let you all know how things turn out.

gamorg02, Well my friend added the stable to tank. But I know he used the little guied that's on the neck of the bottle. So know he didn't add more then it should have needed. Was also wondering what type of fuel filter should I use for 1989 model. Is there a better or worse kind to use.

Well I'm going to start with draining fuel out of tank and replace old fuel filter. Then start from there HOPE IT WORKS. If I still have issues I will get with you Woodsman thanks for the offer.

I picked up a very small fly screen from Python it's smoke black and pretty much just covers speed-o but for $ 80 bucks think it looks nice. Get a lot of people who really like it.

I heard a few of these same post about the Max over the years also. The one I always here alot are they were to powerful and killing a lot of riders. So after the 89 model they slowed them down a little. I just think maybe cops were getting pissed because they could not catch them on the open...
