Anyone know just how much power is lost w/ the cobra exhaust? I bought my bike with them already on so I don't have a 'before' frame of reference. However, on my first trip to the track she did run very consistent in both ET and trap speed - but the trap speed was always a click below 112 mph...
OSW is a very popular track. I used to race there for many years growing up back in the late 80s thru the 90s in whatever car I was playing with at the time - 5 liter Mustangs, LT-1 and LS-1 Z28s, Buick T-Types and Grand Nationals - ahhhh, the good old days:cheers:
Yeah, if it 'only' has 150 horse, I'll keep my old one which is great for comfort and the long cruise and my fZ-1 will still be as fast or faster than the new Max and still be a better canyon carver . . .
Hmmm, I just clicked the original link and it took me right to it. I'll post again:

If that doesn't work, my YouTube name is 'corporateklown' or you can also search for the title 'Vmax vs Hayabusa'
Well, Maxine isn't the fastest bike out there but I still had fun. Actually, I was the only guy out there NOT on a crotch rocket. I grew up in Central Florida and have more passes down the 1320 at Orlando Speed World than I can count - and although I've been riding motorcycles far longer than...
Thanks to all for the compliments / feedback re: my seat. As for the bell, it remained from my 'old skool' buddy that I bought the bike from....I had to research it as well to figure out its meaning. I was going to take it off but then figured why bother - it obviously makes for a good...
My Vrod is a 'D' model which came out in '06 and is called Nightrod; the main difference (and what attracted me) is center controls and highway pegs rather than forward controls. Seat height is 26" and so you sit much lower than on a Max. From a drag racing standpoint, I feel the Vrod has a...
I mentioned the fender issue in the opening post. I do not know what the stock fork brace looks like (if I don't have one) - I've attached a pic so please let me know if you can tell if mine is after market.
I've attached a couple pictures of Maxine. I may have gotten more for my money than I realized. My buddy told me it had a rear cross-drilled rotor, upgraded rear springs, and Cobra exhaust. After looking a bit closer, I do believe it has a different seat as well. I did some research and I don't...
Yep - emotion does play a big factor. Bottom line is that if YOU are happy paying 'x' amount of dollars for 'v' bike, then it's worth it. I've always admired the Max and have wanted one since piloting one back in '88 (I was 18 at the time and although still an experienced rider, I have no idea...
Re: cobra exaust
Lose hp with the Cobras? Good grief! I'm not one to sacrifice power for sound - plus I live in a condo complex where I try not to draw attention to myself. I just bought my buddy's Max and it has the Cobras. They sound tough and are in fine shape but are a bit loud for my...
So backing off the tension may solve the problem, huh? I may give that a try before handing it off to the experts. I'd imagine those bolts certainly would have torque specs but I don't have a service manual.
And Buster, thanks for the compliment!
I just purchased my first Vmax from a buddy and here is my input - he had a windshield on it that was beating the hell out of me at speeds over 55 mph so I removed it. It was connected via the bolts at the top of the forks - I'm a better rider than a mechanic but what I can tell you is that my...
