Recently rebuilt front brake calipers on ‘97 vmx1200. Any torque specs on the bolts that hold the caliper to the bike bracket?

No bugs. NE Illinois. It’s a frozen tundra right now. Will be good to get that junk out altogether. I think it was disintegrating and getting pulled into carbs. Thx again.

I found more foam in the bottom of the air box in the hole at the front. Anything needed there?

Heya. Is the foam on the top of the air box necessary? Mines ancient and flaking apart all over the place. I’m taking it out. Recommendations on what to replace it with or are most leaving it off? There’s an air filter under it. Seems potentially unnecessary.

I ended up putting them back on. Much appreciated! A wire wheel and paint job had the shims looking brand new. Gave the tabs a slight bend and they snapped right onto new brake pads. The rear brake is back on, fully functional and better than new. One step closer to bringing my "back-yard-find"...

Hey max masters. I’m rebuilding the calipers and putting fresh pads on the rear of my ‘97 1200. There are some metal triangle things with arrows on the back of the old pads. Should those be cleaned up and put on the new ones or left off? Photo below.

Refilling the radiator with the plastic drain cock in the “on” position won’t hurt anything, even though the manual says to turn it to “off” before refilling. Got it. But I should have pulled the plastic drain cock all the way off because there’s something behind it? What’s there a chunk of...

I just flushed coolant in my 1997. Followed instructions except during refill. It says to turn to “Off” then refill the radiator. I refilled THEN turned to “Off”. Since I did it out of order will it cause me trouble? Should I drain and refill again ithe correct order?
