    Ticking sound

Thanks for the replies! I was hoping the sound would come through the video better. It would make sense that it's valve or chain related. The bike has 14,000km. I'd like to ride a bit more this summer/fall if the ticking doesn't sound that severe.

    Ticking sound

Hello, it's been a while since I've posted. Moved across the country and finally found time to rebuild my carbs. Long story short, the bike is running really well again, however I have this ticking sound that can be heard mostly from behind the bike coming from the muffler. I just replaced the...

I went down last fall, need help getting back to 100%

Finally got to go for a ride again. I'm having issues with my other V (CTS-V). Anyway, it seems I'll be cleaning the carbs again this weekend as it still hangs at 3000...but not every single time anymore. Makes for interesting shifting since the rpm won't drop haha. Feels like a semi-auto...

I went down last fall, need help getting back to 100%

Nothing worse than an unresolved thread. I had a chance to tinker with the bike this weekend. I syphoned as much of the old gas out and added fresh fuel. I reseated the carbs to make sure the rubber seals were ok and checked linkages along the way. After turning the mixture screws out one...

I went down last fall, need help getting back to 100%

Ok thanks for the suggestions I'm going to spend lots of time this weekend on it. I'll look for any damage I may have missed, linkages, all the rubber parts look ok but I'll check for vacuum leaks as well. When I cleaned the carbs I had to drill out the brass plugs and reset the screws to 2.5...

I went down last fall, need help getting back to 100%

Hey guys I was cut off last fall and laid her down. I'm ok, thought the bike was ok... I probably forgot to stabilize the fuel after my accident so I'd like to blame the gas. I've siphoned and now I'm running the bike dry so I can start fresh. I did the shotgun method with the carbs on the bike...

    New Grill Cover

I just installed a flea-bay cover as well, just wondering if anyone else has the problem of the forks hitting the cover in full turn?

    Hindle evolution

Well I had nothing better to do today so I drilled out the end cap rivets and pulled the old packing out. There was lots missing near the inlet.. I picked up a riveter and the last bag of exhaust packing from Canadian Tire. Took a pole and jammed the whole bag of packing into the can, used a bit...

    Hindle evolution

thanks for the replies. Despite the obvious difference between our bikes I still notice similarities in the exhaust notes. Nice bike btw. I'm sold on the stainless evolution that thing is beautiful. I took a peek into my hindle can last night with a flashlight and could see the baffle near the...

    Hindle evolution

So I've been running a full hindle system I picked up used for the summer. I like the deep rumble at idle and low rpm, however, it seems to get a bit raspy at 5k rpm and up. I haven't run into any other vmaxes so I can only compare to my stock setup before. Could it just be the packing has worn...

    New vmax owner headshake

So I didn't want to post anything here til I was sure, but my wobble is gone. I can't be 100% sure what fixed it since I tried many, but here is my set up. Front progressive springs stock height, 40/40 psi radials, rear shocks preload 1 and damper 1, I did the rear washer swap since my 180 was...

Integrated CBR LED Tail Light Mounting

Just finished the install! Used an angle grinder to cut the license bracket off. Also used it to cut the slits to bend the inner fender. Cleaned up the cuts with a bench grinder, bolted up the light to the inner fender, added some silicone on top of the light as well. Took about an hour and a...

    New vmax owner headshake

I'm not sure to be honest, its the local Yamaha dealer that did it for me. I can call and find out. Quick question.. When the manual says 34 and 36 psi for the tires...would that be the same for a radial? I'm currently running 40/40 but I think I'll lower that a bit.. (I've had a wobble no...

    New vmax owner headshake

The runout doesn't look too bad.. maybe a mm or 2. I did notice how close my tire is to my swingarm though lol, that 180/70/17 barely fits in there..and with the special spacer that came with my cycle one off rim, there is no chance to use a washer. Anyways I had a good ride tonight..I lowered...
