Recently started working on my Fathers 1985 VMAX which has been sitting about 8yrs since he passed.
Had carbs rebuilt and cleaned fuel system. It started and idled perfect for about 2 minutes then white smoke started coming out exhaust.
Smells like coolant to me. What is a good starting point to diagnose the problem.

Thank you

Highly unlikely to be a head gasket blown though it could be. I would check the oil to make sure on contamination, check the plugs to see if they are being steam cleaned, and then if not I would let it run for at least 30 minutes so it can get nice and warmed up. Watch the temp on the gauge and make sure it doesn't overheat. You need to just burn all the crap from sitting out.

Thank you for the input. Bought test kit to check for blown head gasket and it did not appear to be the gasket.
Going to change oil and flush coolant system next.

Akron Ohio.
