Cooling to much?

My 1gen Max temperature cools down on the highway.
to about 1/4 on the gauge.
It only goes to 1/2-3/4 in the summier and standing still for a while.
Is this normal?
In a car the thermostat keeps the temp stabil. ( when its on operation temperature )

My 1st gen stays at about half. I see it rise slightly while slow moving and I hear the fan kick on but I dont think it ever got up past 2/3.

It has a Ford fan switch kicks on the fan a little earlier, and Water Wetter (sp) coolant. I dont live where heavy traffic is an issue but I do ride in hot weather sometimes. My driveway is long and very slow washed out dirt/gravel and I always notice the fan running (when hot out) when I get to my cabin. Even with my Venture overheating has just not been an issue.

Have you checked the thermostat?

Mine stays to cool, especially when driving, then the gauge runs al the way back.
Thermostat is possible.
