This is a fun trip to the days of yesteryear, when a variety of pickups were made for various reasons:

all-wheel-drive turbocharged V-6 GM truck w/tuned lowered suspension

same as above but normally aspirated, still lowered, tuned suspension

various Japanese pickups
powered by inline-4
powered by twin-rotor Wankel
powered by V-6
powered by flat-4
4WD
FWD

cab-over Jeep

orphan Studebaker w/bed by Dodge (!)

diesel German FWD

and others.

Kyle's favorites, the Chevy LUV and the S-10 are included. Happy viewing.

I have a special fondness for about all of the above but the rotary is a personal favorite oddball. Great read, loving the classics and notably obscure. Thanks for posting that.

They left out my personal favorite, the early 1960's Ford Econoline pickup. I had one for close to 20 years. Dodge made a similar one, and the one sold in Canada was named the Fargo. How's that for a name, eh? Probably Frances Mcdormand's favorite truck.

Whenever I drove it, people were always asking about it. I could have sold it many times over. A couple of guys who were cousins had one with a 351 Cleveland V8 in the front of the bed. It had a driveshaft about 13 inches long on it, and if you nailed it, the steering got very light.

I actually own a 58 Studebaker 3/4th ton pickup---after two years of working on it, I was finally able to get it back up on its feet last year.

I didnt notice one there but we must mention the VW type II/bus based pickups. I think those are even more rare than 21 and 23 window busses. Oh, love that Studebaker!!
