Dunno if I believe in that, but once the rings seat, that should be it, I expect. A few hundred miles, and an oil change, and then not red-lining the tach constantly should allow the drivetrain to work reliably.

Some interesting reading here.
A diametrically opposite view is on the attachment albeit relating to a air cooled motor.
