What did you do to your Vmax today? Part 2

Thanks for the input. I suspected it may be a bit high in price. And yes, the fork seals are definitely going. I may need to ask the dealer for a quote to repair those.

What did you do to your Vmax today? Part 2

Sadly, I posted my bike for sale yesterday ... after giving her a proper romp down the country roads. It's still a really fun bike to ride, but I just don't get on it as much as I should, and thought perhaps a new owner may give the proper attention. I'd be interested in what a proper price...

Vmax Engine for sale in portland area on CL

I just had a larger Triumph Rocket engine shipped from Chicago IL to Portland Oregon for about $300.00. I'm not sure what shipper the guy used, but it arrived in one piece (went directly to my repair shop, not to me). It's now powering my heretofore busted rocket. Last time I shipped a bike, it...

Vmax Engine for sale in portland area on CL

If you can get him to deliver it to my garage then you can grab it next time you make it to portland ... assuming you ever come to Portland. It can go next to my 2300cc Triumph rocket engine with a busted crank :confused2: Boise ID is 6 hours. Not sure about Eden. EDIT: Or have him drive it...

Vmax Engine for sale in portland area on CL

Not sure if anyone is looking for just an engine ... and this is *not* my engine or my listing, but I saw this on CL today for $300 for the engine and $400 with carbs. Seems like a pretty good deal. Anyway, here is the link. -GL http://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/mcy/3710853021.html Here's...

Love the contrast. Something about red on black really looks good.

What did you do to your Vmax today? Part 2

Ha. Very nice. When I get home from work on the bike I sometimes spend the next hour giving rides to my kids. They love it. Well, that is until they turn 16yo. My oldest won't ride with me anymore. I guess he's too macho. But the younger kids still really enjoy going on rides. -GL

What did you do to your Vmax today? Part 2

Yes it is. Good eye! But the first that shipped with the unit was DOA, and the second, well, it lasted only a year or so. Now neither of the headlights are the original from the kit.

What did you do to your Vmax today? Part 2

My headlight burnt out, so I ordered and finally installed a new HID bulb. It is the one on the LEFT HAND side and if you look closely, you can see a red ring around it. It took an eternity to install, and after I was done, my wife informs me that we need two of them. So I just ordered a second...

    Need a throttle sleeve

Oh and another happy ending ... I was able to cut off the mis-glued throttle sleeve from the original ISO grips that I had bought and then I used needle nose pliers to break out the interior portion of the sleeve. Got the whole thing out ... it was only in about 1/3 of the way. Then I soaked...

    Need a throttle sleeve

UPDATE: Happy ending here. bazwell suggested the YZF throttle sleeve and so I ordered one from Ebay for just $12.00 shipped. It had a cap on the end that I cut off, cleaned up, and then she slid right on. The two cables fit perfectly and the only difference was that it was a bit short...

Any V-Max riders gone to the Dark Side?

I have mine at 28psi for the Rocket. Others with my same set up range from 28 to 33 psi, with larger riders using the higher pressures ... all of which are lower than than what would be used when on a car. Too much PSI causes the bike to feel really loose, but drop just a tiny bit of pressure...

Any V-Max riders gone to the Dark Side?

One of the reasons I went to a DS tire was for better traction in wet weather given the amount of rain we have here in the great NW. I picked a good all-weather tire which provided much better grip on wet roads. It hasn't negatively affected my cornering, but I'm pretty cautious in the rain...

Any V-Max riders gone to the Dark Side?

+1 I run a DS tire on my Triumph Rocket III including when the sidecar is on and also off. I'll put one on my max too when the current tire is used up. Below is a pic of the rear of my rocket. Like the above poster stated, there are pros and cons. But discussing the DS is like talking about...

    Need a throttle sleeve

I found this YZF throttle sleeve on ebay for just $12.00 shipped and I ordered it. So far so good. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Yamaha-YFZ-R1-1998-2009-Throttle-Sleeve-Tube-Motion-Pro-/140737126689?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item20c4962121&vxp=mtr#ht_1790wt_807

    Need a throttle sleeve

Hey Pat: If it turns out that I cannot salvage the grips ... then you can have them. The RH one is in mint condition. The throttle side of course, is not so much. They could probably be salvaged also by inserting a dowel and drilling it out wider so as to bore out the plastic throttle sleeve...

    Need a throttle sleeve

Thanks Sean. I need to start coming to you first for all my max stuff. I am just used to randomly searching google and ordering stuff for my bikes. Let me know if you do indeed have one. If so, send me a paypal invoice or email with the amount and I'll settle up. That would allow me to...
