my gen1 vmax revcounter appears dead, wiring is ok ,cannot see anything burned etc.as the revcounter gauge is built in with the temp gauge substituting it for a universal gauge means hacking it about.anyone done it ,or should i just buy a used unit from fleabay.thanks

Pretty-sure somebody here will have one for you reasonably. You might consider one of the new all-in-one designs avail. for much-less that the stockers, I imagine.

Here's one: http://www.acewell-meter.com/c0_1.php?pid=3&bid=11

Another:

From Pinwall on eBay, they sell alot of parts. I have bought stuff from them & haven't had a problem. And only $53.33, shipping included, for the entire instrument pod! I bet seeing this, someone a member here will make you an offer on what you need.

Take a peek at this thread, maybe you'll find something you like.

I'm using a Koso knockoff I picked up for around $50 off of eBay. So far, no complaints at all. Plus it's really nice to have a fuel gauge to go along with the low fuel light.

Try taping the window and if that doesn't work open it up and carefully move the needle off the peg. On mine, both the temp and tach, the needle stuck and once I freed it it worked.
