i need to change the dried/cracked gaskets at the top of the cylinder heads. are they called "valve pan gaskets"?- do i have to take out radiator to do it? anyone know of instructional video for that project? thanks in advance

Yamaha call it Gasket Head Cover 1, part # 26H1119301. I call it a cam cover gasket.
I've not removed the rad but did take of the carbs which gives a bit more wriggle room.
The biggest issue you will have is getting the gasket to stay in place when re-installing; use some grease to keep them in their groove.
If using non genuine parts a little silicon sealer around the half moons would be prudent.
Not aware of any video.

Carbs and radiator give you quite a bit more working room and not much additional labor time to get them off and out of the way.
