Is the issue once 2nd gear is engaged it pops back out of gear? Or is the issue you are unable to engage into 2nd gear?

We just fix it lol. Hard to beat one of our undercut transmissions! But the early bikes like in your list are common to have segment failures as well (which the symptom is won't shift into or out of a gear).
