I just got a pair of frame braces for my gen 1 2001 V-Max.
They were cheap because of the caveat that the seller didn't know anything about them, and wasn't sure if even the installation hardware set was complete.
They look a lot like the frame braces once sold by a Japanese parts website called Webike.

I can't seem to find installation details anywhere.
I've posted some pics of these braces, so hopefully someone wiser can enlighten me.

Bolts to the lower forward frame section and then the clamps on the frame at the rear.

Thanks.

Do I remove the bolts holding the lower sub-frame?
Or replace the bolts holding my crash guards?

Btw does the install hardware look right?
I thought there would be 4 of those long stainless bolts.

They may or may not work with the engine guards. Its been awhile. You would possibly have to come up with some longer fasteners. Some example pics from my files. The first pics were on a bike we built some years back. We did not use engine guards with this one since it had the belly pan too.

Thanks for the pics.
After comparing the pics with my own, it definitely looks like I'm missing 2 of the long stainless bolts and spacers.
I'll have to scrounge around for some.

I installed a set with the engine guards this winter. Clutch side of bike I needed 3/8” longer Allen head bolts and I fabed up an aluminum spacer to make up the thickness of engine guard for the bolt that does not go thru the engine guard. Holes are threaded so bolts don’t go all the way thru the frame. Throttle side bolts go all the way thru the frame and I used unlock nuts on the backside. You will also need to make up thickness of engine guard with some type of spacer on this side. I used the same type stainless Allen bolts on both sides to fit recesses in the braces.
