I researched the carbs before I bought them and the spec book at the Yamaha stealership showed the 87 model to be BDS 35 and the Vmax carbs showed to be BDS 35, so now i will have to go back and look at the book again.

Nothing guarantees my info is right Rhoy, it's just something that was on the Venture forum....who knows. :confused2:

Let me know what you come up with, I'm real curious.

Rhoy, it looks like the spec info I posted may not be correct. I've got some Venture carbs, supposedly from an '84, and some V Max carbs and the throat bore is the same in all of them.....35mm.

I checked with Sean, he said some early Venture carbs were smaller but if they measure 35mm then they are the same as V Max ones.

You are absolutely correct, there are several years that Venture & V Max carbs are interchangable, I apologize for the confusion! :worthy:

I went to the stealership today and over the last 2 years someone done away with all the spec books before 1996 so I cant say for sure one way or the other. Maybe Sean will chime in and straighten us out on the venture carbs.

Yeah, information is a little scarce, I googled everything I could think of but to no avail....so I decided to just measure some and, voila! both are 35mm! :clapping:

Carbs arrived today, got them broken down and they are'nt V Max carbs. Definitely not all bad tho, the slides and diaphrams are in excellent shape as well as the floats, jet blocks and that kind of stuff. It looks like these came off a bike with very few miles.

So, anyone looking for parts, I got some good ones. Also have some V Max carb bodies for sale too....guess I better get to the 'Buy & Sell' area! unk:
