Auckland had a classic bike display this weekend, I had hoped to put my Max in there but I'm waiting on a new stator.
However, the Vmax legacy was supported by a beautiful example, modded to hell with a 250 rear etc and it got 2nd place in its group.
I'm interested how it might have gone in the peoples choice awards as it had a LOT of interest in it:punk:

I'll take the "Bruff," thankew!

Lots of interesting old bikes. That VMax looks like it has one of everything but I like a relatively stock appearance best. One of each side by side is a good comparison (stock vs. modded).

Yeah, I like to look at 'em (heavily-modded bikes), but when it's riding down the road & you get a chance to enjoy it, the surprise of a stock appearance w/better-than-stock performance is a real wake-up call for the unsuspecting.

Plus, the cost of throwing all those 'peek-aboo' engine side covers, custom bodywork, USD forks, $2K Eye-talian fancy wheels, chain-drive & hot-rod big-bore engine, why, you might as-well spend that $$$ on a Gen II. I would do the latter before the former.

That said by a guy who is due to take delivery of his front radial tire tomorrow to go w/his forum-purchased Kosman rear & a new Bridgestone BT-023 17"...:biglaugh:
