I have a 2005 Vmax going on 20,000 miles with the 39mm flatslides from UFO.

I am having some problems with her and so I removed the right side carbs along with the manifolds to look at the valves. As expected without an air filter the valves look like crap, covered in the black deposits. When I turn the engine over to look at them durning the compression stroke I can see bubbles where the valves meet the seat. Should they be holding in more pressure. Of course I am going to find a compression tester and perform a test... but that might be a while. Anyone have more experience with how the valves should work?

It's fuel down there bubbling, just in case you were wondering. I was turning the engine without ignition.

Welcome

Can't be of any help but Sean Morley can... I never understood why people would buy a non filtered carb setup for 2500+ dollars... (Not a dig towards you sorry) It's a dig at UFO.
