FLA_EVERGLADES_4

PALM BAY, Fla. Authorities say a man who may have hidden as officers investigated reports of two suspicious men in a Florida community targeted by recent burglaries was killed by an 11-foot alligator.
Brevard County Sheriff’s Maj. Tod Goodyear says 22-year-old Matthew Riggins told his girlfriend he would be in Barefoot Bay to commit burglaries with another suspect. Authorities received calls Nov. 13 about two suspicious men in black walking behind homes and investigated. Riggins was reported missing the next day.

Goodyear said sheriff’s divers recovered Riggins’ body 10 days later in a nearby lake and the injuries were consistent with an alligator attack. Authorities said Riggins had drowned and the alligator, which behaved aggressively toward divers, was trapped and euthanized.
Florida Today reports a second person has been taken into custody.

When we step into an Alligators habitat....we are no longer top of the food chain.

It's a shame the alligator had to be killed. They should have deputized it.

So they killed an alligator, found in a place where alligators are known to thrive, for doing what alligators do naturally, after doing a public service and saving tax $$. No wonder mother nature is so pissed!

Poor Gator. We need a "go fund me" page for the gator family left behind.

Actually, they got the wrong alligator! They got 'Al' a mean, crochety old bastard of a gator who was terminally ill from eating diseased muscles and not expected to live much longer anyhow, which explains his aggression towards the divers.

The real prep-gator was a young and much smarter alligator named Louie....who was languishing under some mango roots munching on a swamp duck, watching them cart ol' Al off to the gator glue factory.

It's true!! :punk:
