FZX700 (Fazer) question

Hi folks:

I hope one of y'all can help me with this question regarding a 1987 Yamaha Fazer I'm restoring.

Like the Max, the Fazer has an external (not in-tank) fuel pump. For some reason, after fuel tank switch is rotated to "ON" (it's located on bottom of tank), ignition is switched "ON" and handlebar switch is set to "RUN", I'm getting no fuel pump action...even when I've manually drained the float bowls.

Do any of you know a way to test the pump to see if it actually CAN run, or if the problem is with the bike's CDI box?

Find the plug that power the pump. Unplug it and apply 12VDC direclty to it

Unplug and check harness plug for power/ ground with tester.
