Hello guys, I am George from Greece and one year ago i ve purchased a 2009 model.also i am new to the community, its my first post.i need some help.im sure that my bike is slipping in high rpm 6000 to 9000 at third gear fourth and fifth.i see the rpm needle going up really fast but i cant feel it in the act.whats wrong ,give me some advice please.thanks a lot.

Is it strictly just 3-4-5 that the slippage occurs? Take it somewhere you can open it up at 1&2 and see if it's the same. A slipping clutch, if it's the clutch will happen in all gears.

It could be that you need to replace your clutch. For my gen 2 that I bought used, it seems the previous owner rode the clutch a bit. I also completely unrestricted the ECU, and unlocked its true power. Haven't done a double diaphragm spring conversion as of yet. Just got it back from the shop yesterday after replacing the clutch and the slippage is completely fixed. Parts and labor isn't too expensive if you choose not to do it yourself.

Another possibility is your master cylinder is rusted and the piston is failing to return properly and sticking in the middle. More than likely it is one of these two scenarios.

Yet another possibility would be you have a major clog in the hydraulic clutch lines. Other than these scenarios I really can't think of anything else.

Rymo thanks a lot for the advice,im really glad that someone answered me.i am not a specialist but from what I read in here maybe the dd clutch or barnet kit will do the job for me; what you think about that?im almost sure that 1 and 2 are ok.thanks again

I am about to send my wheel for a 240 mod maybe optimal carbon or Morley muscle i am not sure yet,(French is cheaper) get the DAM MEGAMAX and handmade titanium x pipe ( akra wants 950 euro), air filter and of course unrestricted ecu and i think im ok with that?? Also i have to tell you i am a little bit disappointed with the stock performance.my best friend owns a v rod and i thought it will be a piece of cake, but my tires are slipping at first gears then the clutch problem at high rpm and the results was side by side..he is very happy with his bike..

Well with slipping clutch there is alot of mid- to top-end power that does not get to rear wheel at all.
Note that 240 rear wheel eats up performance..

EDIT: Buy new, original Yamaha clutch discs and prepare to replace burned/warped steelies to new ones. Additionally, install second spring at the same time.

You’re welcome. I am far from a specialist myself, just happen to have quite literally gone through the same issue with slippage myself. I’d highly recommend getting the DD clutch kit. From everything I’ve heard Yamaha’s designing of a just a single spring is not the best. Get the DD-kit, and replace the clutch and friction plates. If you’re buying the kit from Gurued gear it already comes with the Gasket, springs, and upgraded strength bolts.

Just an FYI, if going with Gurued gear’s kit, it’s currently out of stock and around two weeks ago I got in touch with Tim, and he said it should be in stock in 4 weeks. So with any luck you’ll be able to snag one in two weeks or less.

Also I forgot to add, when doing this it’s important you do not re-use the same oil and filter you currently have. Being a wet clutch, your oil has most likely caught fragments and is now circulating them through your engine. This is not ideal and can cause issues down the road.

Check your inner clutch basket for loose rivets before you buy other parts. I've seen quite a number of them that no amount of parts will fix it when those get loose.

Thanks for the tip my friend,of course i will,i ve read most of your posts, you really know what you are talking about.thanks again, maybe we will do business, ive e mailed you for the 240 kit.thanks again
