I have an 85' 1200 that after a few minutes of normal driving begins emmiting a loud humming noise out of the speedometer. Anybody seen this before? is it a fixable thing or, require a whole new assembly? Thanks for the feedback!!

Hmm... Have you tried taking it apart and using some light 3 in 1 on the moving parts? A little trans fluid on the cable every so often doesn't hurt either.

Oh and welcome!

mine does it too.....more so when cold!
I think I'll take mine apart and lube it.....cable too.

Mine is the same BUT the exhaust is so loud, I can't hear it.

Only time I can hear it is if a I spin the speedo cable manually.

The problems is not in the drive or the cable because they are cleaned and lubed without changing the noise.

The noise is coming from the speedo head.

Is there a good method to lubricate the speedo mechanism? and what lubricant is best?
