identify this part

when I bought the bike 3-4 yrs ago, the guy I got it from gave it to me....said they break a lot and it was a spare....what the hell is it and where does it go???

Looks like the shifter star to me...

The newer models fixed this issue I believe and they are useable in the older models.

I'd assume its an internal part then, huh?
sat in my garage all this time....never knew what the hell it was....lol

It's the gear segment and the old style ain't worth much. The newer style is more like a billet part and the pics can't fold the material back and let the pin fall out. I think I sell the new segment (99 and up but fits all years), new pins (different then old style pins), and screw for under $50.
