Max noise

I ride my Max about 300 miles per week, and ONCE a day it makes a VERY odd sound.

On accelerating rather gently, I hear a low Poof sound. Not a backfire, it sounds like you filled a plastic baggie with air, sealed it placed a VERY little pressure on it, and slit it with a razor.

I hear it when it's hot, cold, and warming up. Just this poof sound ONCE a day.
Has anyone had this happen?

Oh, My Max is an 04 with 15,000 miles on it.

sounds like a carb backfire maybe. or commonly known as a CARBFART. pretty common ailment

Back fire comes through the carbs whereas an after fire comes through the exhaust. I'm sure you're just hearing a back fire. I hear them every so often as well.

Ditto on the carb farts here, but only when it's cold...

My carb farts sound more like a cat spitting (could be the big hole I cut in my cover)

Sometimes when I park up the bike after a good ride and wait a few seconds there is a low whooof out the exhaust, probably the air getting in and mixing with hot fumes.

I'd say it's a backdraught running through your exhaust, not enough to create a bang?
