The Gen 2 has something similar but for the intakes to have a wider rpm performance range by changing geometry of intakes, i. e. the length of the bell mouths.
 
Oh boy oh boy. Its a 2 stroke so the reason of this is resonating the exhaust chamber
becouse the peak power by 2 stroke is where the acoustic resonans occurs.

This will completly not work with 4 stroke engines. It will make a catastrophic effect on it.
 
What i meant is that gen 2 has a similar mechanism but on the intakes to get the best of 2 worlds (torque and power) across the rpm range. of course has nothing to do with 2 stroke engines.
 
It changes the resonant frequency of the exhaust which will alter when the reverse pressure wave arrives at the exhaust valve.
