I started poking around my newly acquired '85 and noticed all the seat bolts were missing. What size/thread are these?

I think I'd also like to get a mixed bag of bolts and screws for future use - what are some common sizes I should look at having in my garage JIC.

They are almost all 6mm x 1.0 in various lengths for many of the parts. The part number on the fiche gives you the sizes in most cases.

Look on Ebay for bags of fasteners, you might find more of a selection from those off of the Venture bikes, Vmax parts tend to get marked up a tad bit. Best deals are the "Make Offer" auctions, you can get some really good deals on those.

Good idea to search for different model. I'm looking for a toolkit too so I might do the same for that.

Here is a listing of various fasteners that I've collected, some specific to the Vmax and others with either a good selection, high quality specialty, or usable to hang stuff off your Vmax.
Check out Sean Morley, he has a great selection of fasteners. Inquiry at [email protected]

I would love to go all stainless, or better yet all titanium fasteners. Saw an episode on "Naked Speed" about a custom cafe build, they took off by what they estimated loosely about 10 pounds from the bike by going with all titanium fasteners.

I have been slowly replacing my stock bolts with stainless steel bolts and nuts and I thinking of adding a few of the 12 point ss fasteners in a couple of places.

I do have engine cover kits and can supply any bolt you'd need but for a few bolts you're better off going to fastenal or local hardware store.

The bolt to hold the seat to the frame at the rear corners (which is a #3 phillips screw) is SCREW,WITH WASHER 90159-06060-00
So, this is a 6mm bolt 60mm long (though I know it is not) 90159-06033-00 was the original part number and 33mm long which is more like it. Even then I don't think you need it that long.

The bolts through the spring and attacing frame bracket is BOLT, FLANGE 95817-06012-00 and shows 6mm x 12mm Long.

Personally I never bolt the seat down since getting it off for jump starting or getting to my paperwork I store under there is so much easier by leaving them out.
