I'm curious at to what was the response from Miami/ Homestead officials? Homestead Track owners? Any response from Little Havana?

Since you asked,

And one from a local Homestead FL-based source: http://homesteadishome.blogspot.com/2011/07/nascar-multiple-racetrack-owner-bruton.html

And for those of you who like a more-scholarly approach to your information, here is a research paper in an admittedly pro-racing publication:

This has some interesting references to Bruton Smith's holdings and economic plans.

Quite a lineup disparaging Mr. Brunton's actions, IMO as it should be. But the mere fact that freedom of speech, in any form, should be impeded would indeed take this nation back a few centuries. Let him blather on but he is within his rights is to blather on, however boorish.

Here are a couple of thoughts that I found when searching for freedom of speech:
?The right to free speech and the unrealistic expectation to never be offended can not coexist.?
Philip Sharp
?But I think what's important about this debate is not written into any specific 'gotcha' on this, but asking the question: What about freedom of speech? Should we limit speech from people we find abhorrent? Should we limit racists from speaking?

I don't want to be associated with those people, but I also don't want to limit their speech in any way in the sense that we tolerate boorish and uncivilized behavior because that's one of the things freedom requires: is that we allow people to be boorish and uncivilized, but that doesn't mean we approve of it.?
― Rand Paul

Linked here is a interesting, scholarly even, read of the evolution of freedom of thought; A HISTORY OF FREEDOM OF THOUGHT.
I agree that Smith's remark are repulsive and derogatory and to that point I also agree with 85 MAX-fan that a atomic wedgy would indeed be appropiate!

Search the web about freedom of speech in Germany. If the topic is Nazism, or an attempt to boost it in modern times, you will find your freedom of speech there is not as-broad as one would think (Patrick Henry's oft-quoted freedom-of-speech statement notwithstanding).

I am not looking to limit freedom of speech but there are consequences to behavior and Bruton Smith has a pulpit from-which to speak as a businessman and entertainment operator, that most do-not. People can choose their own responses. As for me, I am glad to know where not to spend my $.

Ironically, Bruton Smith's preimer East Coast track, in Atlanta, was once part-owned by a south Florida racer and team owner who lost it in a federal seizure and forfeiture action. This doesn't have anything to do w/the free-speech posts, I just thought it was interesting.

I hope the France family continue to take Smith's $$ as that is obviously the best way to make him "squeal like a pig" ('Deliverance'). Taking his $$ and keeping the end of the season event in Homestead-Miami Speedway Nov. 18 is sure to make him upset. Don't think he wouldn't screw the France family the moment he could ("Nothing personal, it's just business!")

Here is a guy who is so-mean he doesn't let his grandchildren win at Candyland. Guess-who?
