I've been having charging issues, so I upgraded my R/R to a late model Electrosport unit, and installed new battery.
I ran the R/R wires directly to the battery via soldered leads.
I'm getting good voltage to the battery now, but the R/R gets toasty.
It's really hot to the touch, not burn your hand hot, but still really warm.
The voltage out of the stator measures about 20 at idle, and the high 60's at 5k. All three are equal.
I know those heat fins are there for a reason, but I was honestly shocked at how hot it was running.
Any thoughts?
