Hoping someone has some suggestions. Not sure on the jetting but believe it is stock since everything else is on the bike. I did the pea shooter on the carbs, sync'd them, checked the coils, and adjusted A/F to numerous settings and still have an annoying exhaust pop out of the right side pipe when running at 3k rpm. Since it's out the right side is one of the carbs lean? Any ideas? I also added Supertrap slip ons with 6 disks and condition is exactly the same.

Does it sound like its backfiring?

right. not a loud backfire but deifinitely popping through the right side exhaust when holding steady around 3k.

Most plausible cause for popping is an air leak. Double check airbox and carbs are properly seated in rubber boot. Check all rubber boots (including the one the Vboost valves sit in are in good shape. Check all your exhaust connections for leaks / loose joints.

+1, after changing them all, the popping went away fofr me. Running well ever since. It's hard to inspect with out taking them apart. I've found bad boots leaking underneath the clamps before. They don't have to be overly tightened. I like to soak them in WD-40 then wipe them clean before reinstall.

Thanks all. Carbs are synced so I'll need to dig into the possibility of an air leak. Kicking around pulling the carbs and getting them rebuilt and checking all the boots then. It runs great other than the damn popping at 3k.

i had a similar problem and it was a clogged air line that screws into the air box

he means one of the four lines from carb as vents to the top of air box.....u should see four there
