Having problems with my throttle cables. If I just connect the pull cable and open the throttle, carb spring action will return carb to closed position when I release grip. When I attach return cable it does not want to return smmothly to closed position.

What is the reason that the return cable is even needed? Is does'nt seem to do anything?

Safety. So you can close the throttle if any of the linkage gets hung up. I wouldn't remove it.

Mine broke a week or two ago, mostly the bike runs fine without it but sometimes the carbs won't close as quickly as I would like and the engine will over-rev while I'm changing gear. Be sure to keep your finger within reach of the kill switch in case the cable sticks and the bike takes on a mind of it's own!

I'm waiting on braided stainless steel lines at the moment...

Purpose of the second cable?

To save your life!

Notice you don't hear stuck throttle wreck stories anymore?

I'd fix it, hate to lose a Vmax brother!
