All the time! Put the light into the rear reflector area. And then either mount the plate on a custom bracket in a higher up position or to a side mounted plate.

Thanks all. Mine has already been left off but I haven't been able to try it out yet. I knew someone else had already done it.

I removed it as well.

Made a little piece of sheet metal that bolted up in there and installed some radiantz LED strips on it and LED tag bolts for the plate.

I'm running the inner fender as the rear fender and support for the seat/tail light. Front and rear fenders removed.
