Removing Backrest Parts Missing

I am removing the backrest from my 1990 VMax. It is not the OEM Yamaha backrest. When I pull the passenger seat off, it appears parts were removed to install this backrest. Does anyone have a photo of what should be under the passenger seat on a stock bike? I think there must be something to stop water from getting under the seat? Thanks.

Is it JUST the back rest that bolts to a steel plate?

Yes, the backrest bolts to a steel bracket that attaches to three mounting points on the rear fender under the passenger seat. I will try to get a picture posted. Thanks.

Might be hard to tell from this pic, its not the best but all that I have of it stock under there. There really is nothing to keep water out

It looks like I am missing the piece with the reflector on it. The backrest bracket bolts to the same mounting points.
