What is your ideal shift point (rpms) when drag racing?

I've heard of some going as high as 10.5 (stock tach) :ummm:
what rpm would you set a shift light ?

Most gen 1 Vmaxs don't make additional HP above 9300~9500 RPM. I set my shift light @ 9200 RPM to allow for brain scan-time, hoping I'll have shifted some ware around 9400. But I'm old LOL!

I have my shift light at 9000, and the limiter set at 9500.

Dale walker suggest 10200.

9k though I usually run higher that first gear or two.

Damn, lol. After my build I haven't even been to 8k yet... I feel like I'm babying mine now haha

Thanks for the replies,

now 1/8 mile leave it in third gear or try fourth.
1/4 mile leave in fourth or try 5th.

You'll have to play it by ear. Depending on how well it's running you will just be ready to shift at the end.

Mines all stock and have never made to 5th in the 1/4 mile..................Tom.

My limiter is set to 9K.
