A popular mod done to the 98-03 Honda Shadow 750ACE's (and Spirits up to 05) is a static 4* advance of the ignition by carefully grinding the holes on the pickup under the clutch cover. This does wonders for starting as well as some improvement across the board.

I eventually got a Dyna 3000 for the ACE, but the curve starts at the same spot as stock. (just able to adjust how much advance and how quickly it advances, as well as the rev limiter)

Now, is doing a manual advance like I described possible with 1st Gen Max? Or would I be better off going to an aftermarket ignition? I really do not need any more aggressive of a curve, but I was thinking that if the baseline ignition was advanced just a few degrees, it might start and idle better.

Thoughts on this? Sorry if I seem a nublet here. I am very new still to the V-max.
