Temp Guage

I've been riding to and from work here in the Atlanta area since I got the bike, ambient temps have been +100. I ran into some stop and go yesterday and the temp guage rose to just under the red line. While cruising on the highway it stays at the dot, or just above it. The coolant level appears nominal .

Any thoughts? Is it normal to approach that high on the gauge considering the ambient temp?

Yeah, it's normal. The fan kicks on right about then to maintain temperature. You can get a Borg Warner TFS545 fan switch from Napa so the fan comes on sooner. Mine doesn't get above 1/2 way. The fan will run more often so make sure you charging system is up to snuff.
