Ok, so my '86 Max has great spark on the front and will run on the front 2 cylinders. However, the rear cylinders have no spark when the starter is hit. Now whats really odd, is that they will spark ONLY when I shut off the key switch. I turn the motor over, nuthin. I shut the key off and ZAP!. I want to ride my Max, lol. Anyone have any idea's? Also, both rear coils are new. Edit: Forgot to add, coils are getting power, just not firing.

I would verify plugs, boots and wires are in good shape and connected correctly.
It sounds like you p/u coils. Early models have two...one signals for the rear cylinders and the other for the front. Check restance of the four wires using black as common on that connector.
