without pictures im pretty sure itll be the oring on the drain selector. relatively easy fix. i dont have a part # but im sure you could match the oring up at a hardware store. i think the whole valve is really pricy. i havent had to do mine but it happened to a buddies max. i think its a bit more common than we think.

yea thats pretty much it.... ive not had mine apart yet but hear its not a big deal to do. im sure someone can verify this. as far as antifreeze. make sure its safe for aluminum as normal antifreeze without the inhibitor will attack aluminum over time.
