GEN 1 Exhaust Questions

Did any of the Gen 1 models with the chrome mufflers come with a stock, black end cap instead of a chrome end cap?
Secondly, is it true that the 1985 exhaust did not meet EPA noise requirements because the muffler outlet pipes were "1 mm" to big?

The late model 90's bikes had black end caps all the way through the end of the gen 1 production in 2007. The 85 would not meet 86 EPA requirements and was changed 2mm, That was offset by larger vboost butterlfies for 86-07.
