Overall it looks ok Probably gets a lot bigger the closer it gets to the frame.

C'mon guys, think about this: so-many people whine about the Gen I handling, how do you think it's going to do when you throw a 65% power and who knows how much torque increase at it?

You want a Gen II, buy a Gen II. Remember Chevy Vegas converted to V-8's? Or a Ford Thames truck or an Anglia w/the same? They probably spent as-much time sideways as in a forward path.

No really I was just rambling on. I've got no desire for a gen 2 in a gen1. I put a 440 in a cj7 I learned my lesson. Besides that making the motor fit is one thing making it run is another. Possible? Sure. Cost effective? Uh probably not.

All very well getting the motor but you would also need to acquire or buy the ancillaries to make it work....then find a frame......and then.......

As Mr Fire-medic says much easier ,far less stressful and cheaper in the long run to buy a Gen II.

Morley might need another Gen II engine - to experiment on.......

The hard part for me would be the electronics mainly because I don't want Em.
Fuel would be easy. Ignition maybe not. Sure would be nice though 1700 motor, stock pickups, ignitech or dyna, carbs. If it were possible someone would have done it by now right? As far as too much power? Really? With all the blowers,turbos,n.o.s and don't forget the countless big bore motors surely 200 hp has been eclipsed.
How much does one of those new motors go for anyway? Maybe that's why it's not being done. I mean besides all the other rational reasons.

And as far as v8 Vega's go never had one but I did have a few v8 monza's and yeah they were sideways a lot. And none of the stories ever started with "remember that time we were driving your moms escort?"

Someone should buy that and try to make it fit in a Polaris razor! That would be bad A**! Or even a light sand car or dual sport.

Anything can be done with enough money. BUT, this engine is NOT smaller and mounting areas' completely different. Plus the offset of the output shaft is different so getting the engine to sit properly for side to side weight distribution in relation to the centerline will be off. No real practical way to fit it in my opinion.

I did send an email asking for more details. It appears to be a used engine in a new crate which leads me to think that it was removed due to a dealer screwup on the oil pump recall repair. I've got 3 like that already. They simply don't go bad very often and to have the crate with a used engine in it isn't a good sign.

Well I guess I'll put my motor back in. But I'm sure the cardboard wings will still work.

I love putting Big Motors in small things, LOL Just gotta make it handle. 1977 Triumph Tr 7 with a 400 cubic inch motor with Racing Edelbrock heads, a 4000rpm stal convertor and 411 gears. It was insane !

I believe GM origionally planned to offer a V-8 Vega form the factory but for whatever reason they were only produced in 4cyl flavor, the Chevy Monza shares most of the same underpinnings as the Vega....................Tom.
