I have used the NADY units before with good luck. I think the units I used were the more expensive full duplex ones (you can both talk at one time like a telephone conversation). They even have great customer service.

the one i listed above is full duplex.

i know its not going to be amazing, i'd need to spend like $300 for a really good quality one, but for bumming around town (not too much on highway) thought it'd be nice... also may want her to go out on rides more often which is always good

It's full duplex from rider to pass which works well depending on your helmets. I had the 9 series which was full duplex from bike to bike and rider to pass (each rider to thier pass). I think I traded them in on the MC-03 (looks like a walkie talkie) and they worked well over a mile!

I use the cardo Q2 and absolutely love it.

http://www.cardowireless.com/Q2

Small fits on helmet, no wires to mess with, syncs up to my phone and a gps, has rider to rider and rider to passenger intercom. and to top it off has fm radio.

And everyone I've ever talked to riding down the road has always been amazed at the voice quality.

Just got the multi (x2) for $125 barely used.

Is there something basic out there that also has the ability
to play my ipod and speak with the wife ? Doesn't have to
be wireless and don't want to spend $500. Has anyone tried
the IMC stuff from Whitehorse Gear ?
Thanks
